1. CBD is from hemp and THC is from marijuana..
While it is true that most CBD extraction comes from the hemp plant, the truth is that CBD is just one of the many chemical compounds known as phytocannabinoids found in the Cannabis sativa plant, which includes both the marijuana and hemp plants. There are many different kinds of cannabis and each strain has differing ratios of THC to CBD. The reason CBD is extracted from hemp and THC from marijuana is strictly based on concentration; more CBD in hemp and more THC in marijuana (due to breeding) but both compounds are found in both plants. So to recap, both hemp and marijuana are cannabis and CBD can be found in both.
3. CBD is illegal in the United States.
Under federal law, the plant Cannabis sativa and the compounds derived from it are classified as a schedule 1 substance. That is until the U.S. Congress passed the 2018 Farm Bill. Under this new law, hemp plants (still the same cannabis plant as marijuana) that do not contain more than 0.3% THC was deemed legal to sell, transport, and possess. The same can be said for products sold containing CBD concentrate. The full-spectrum hemp extraction used at Colorado Cannabinoids adhere to the strict farm bill laws or containing less than 0.3% THC, making the product legal to possess, use, sell and ship over state lines.
4.CBD is for an alternative, granola-eating hippies.
Just because CBD doesn’t have the backing of big pharma and is known as an alternative to major medicine does not mean it is only being taken by Birkenstock wearing hippies. It is slowly becoming an everyday routine by young professionals as a neuroprotectant, athletes for recovery and pain relief, as well as elderly for joint stiffness and pain. With the passing of the 2018 farm bill, CBD is becoming as mainstream as Tylenol and Icy Hot for inflammation and pain relief. As research continues and more stories and studies of recovery emerge, it won’t be long before CBD is a common item in the medicine cabinets of American households.
5.The discovery of CBD is a recent phenomenon.
Just because the news and social media are buzzing with articles and comments about CBD does not mean the healing benefits like anti-seizure are new news. CBD and its benefits have been known for decades. Unfortunately, the discovery of cannabinoids and the endocannabinoid system closely coincide with the start of prohibition, creating a difficult situation for research into the newly discovered compounds. With hemp being decriminalized, the future looks bright for continued research into the healing properties of CBD and all of the other cannabinoids.
Now that the sale of CBD is legal, it is easy to buy, but it can be harder to know the exact quality of your product. When buying CBD you are putting a lot of trust into the hands of who is manufacturing the CBD you are using. But there is a way to feel comfortable that what you’re taking is actually what is stated on the bottle. This is done with third-party testing. Just the same way all legal THC products are required to be the third party tested, the easiest way to trust your CBD product is to ensure it’s potency, heavy metal and pesticide tested the same way. The testing should be easily available on the company website. When taking Colorado Cannabinoids products, know that our products have been testing to ensure quality with every use!
